Pleasanton High School students and staff participated in “Pennies for Patriotism”, a month long event during November to show their support of our troops serving our country… for family members in the military… and for a Spanish teacher currently serving duty in Kuwait.

During the Christmas in God’s Country Parade held in Hondo on November 15, the Pleasanton Cowboy Homecoming court and float captured 1st place. Pictured are Cowboy Homecoming Princes Heather Arnott, Princess April Antu, Queen Mystle Crossland, Princess Vanessa Rutherford, Princes Erica Trevino along with Peyton and Camry Mangum.

Ross Shawver, left, Shelby Shawver, Brittney Soward, and Kimberly Shawver have a little chat with Santa Claus about their Christmas wishes. Santa visited Jourdanton on Monday, Dec. 7, for the annual lighting of the Atascosa County Courthouse.

Pleasanton’s Ralph Casias (with ball) impressed tournament officials with his speed and hustle and was names to the all-tournament team in the Edgewood Basketball Tournament.

Pleasanton’s Bobby Johnson comes down with a strong rebound in Thursday’s opening round game with Holy Cross at Pearsall. Other Eagles in the picture are Danny Reyna (left) and Mike Jones. The Eagles upset Holy Cross, 54-52 and went on to win the tournament.

Santa Claus in Pleasanton last Thursday night to visit with children of all ages. He arrived via Fire Truck and was aided by Pleasanton VFD Fire Chief Richard Troell and Cowboy Homecoming Court Queen Lovetta Arguijo and duchesses Barbara Shiver, Joyce Seay and Gayla Ashton. This picture shows pounds of candy which flew in the air to eager children.

Pleasanton Future Teacher’s Association, consisting of 18 members and a sponsor, Mrs. Brockman, took many honors at the District Meet at McCollum High School on Saturday, December 2nd. Carol Cuellar was elected district historian; Josh Guajardo was runner-up for “Mr. FTA”; Deana Gaydos was third for “Miss FTA” and the scrapbook committee did a fine job. Winners were presented a trophy and Pleasanton recieved a gold cup for the most attendance. Future Homemakers of Pleasanton high school are busy setting out rose bushes on the PHS campus as one of the national projects of the organization.
