Off The Fingertips –  Pleasanton WR Garrett McDermott tries to deflect a pass that was intercepted by Troy Stein of Medina Valley.  The Panthers picked off four passes from the Eagles in a 40-0 shutout.

Friends of Pleasanton Library hold benefit for officer’s families – The Friends of the Pleasanton Public Library are having a raffle on a Haunted Cauldron Halloween basket.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and available from any Friends member at the Library or City Hall.  The drawing will be held on Saturday, October 23 at the Used Book Sale at the Library.  Proceeds from these two events will go to the Memorial funds for the fallen officers.  Shown are Kathleen Guerra, Friends president, Library aide Audrey Tschoepe holding Kimberly Guerra.

Trick or Treat – Retama Manor North of Pleasanton invites all children to their Trick or Treat Party, Tuesday, October 31 at 6 p.m. til ? Cost is $1 to enter.  Activities include games, refreshments, goodies, prizes and a costume contest at 8 p.m. Decorating for the party are, from the left, Archie Mae Bates, Rodney Swaim, Celeste Korus, Lola Stephans, Trinidad Vera, and Wesley Holstine.

Tyler Junior College Queen – Wende Lancaster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Lancaster of Tyler and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Roy Wheeler of Pleasanton, was named Homecoming Queen for Tyler Junior College Saturday, October 7th.  She represented Delta Upsilon Fraternity and is pictured with her escort Kemp Kasling.

What is  it? – You never know what’s going to crop up out of local ingenuity.  Here Travis Hall shows off a new type sealed cooling system he has developed and is marketing for automobiles.  Purpose of the system is to trap the overflow from overheated radiators and return the coolant to the system rather than loose it.

Young Veteran – Leon Zabava has worked for the Express since he was in the eighth grade.  Here he feeds the big news press which the Express acquired last July.  He also is the Express’ sports photographer.  He’s a handy lad to have around.
