Pleasanton forward Fernando Miller goes up for a jump shot against Southside on Friday at the PISD Sports Complex. Pleasanton rallied in the second quarter and never looked back in a 66-60 victory over the Cardinals.

Ashley Vierling of Pleasanton FFA raised the Reserve Grand Champion Turkey. The turkey sold at auction for $2,070 to premium buyers Ginnie Garcia, Security Service Federal Credit Union; Vern Heidenreich, Pleasanton Ag Boosters; Lupe Rangel and Tommy Johnson, Miller Lite. Not pictured South Texas Regional Medical Center and Atascosa Physcians’ Group.

Chad Harriman, holding trophy, of he Pleasanton FFA won Grand Champion Hen which sold to TCC Construction for $1,500. Behind Chad are Kyle Harriman, Bruce Cessna and Tommy Crouch.

For the second straight year, a lady hunter has won the “Best Overall” category of the Pleasanton Express’ deer contest. Ann Miller of Poteet harvested a buck that had 10 points on a 20 1/2-inch spread and it was judged the best by contest judges. Former sheriff Darwin Avant of Cotulla gave it a Boone & Crockett net score of 163.

Holly Halpin (25), of the Pleasanton Eaglettes battles for a rebound in the game with Memorial Friday night at the Eagle gym. Other white-clad Eaglettes are Susan Loeffler, (21) and Kim McCall (partially hidden).

William Hagedorn, left, and Glenn Wisenbaker of the Jourdanton FFA took a break as they relaxed during the stock show on their prize winning picnic table. They entered the ag mechanics portion of the show and brought home the reserve champion rosette.

Terri Hunt, Sophomore Eaglette, scores two points in Pleasanton’s Zone Championship winning against Uvalde. Laurie Korus (25) and Deborah Brown are ready to rebound.

These Jourdanton athletes are members of Coach Cliff Baccus’ 200-lb. Club. The T-shirts they are wearing are bought by the students and they earn them by bench pressing over 200 pounds. Mrs. Lousie Hemphill has just pulled the last connection from the Pleasanton telephone switchboard as operation of the board reverted to San Antonio operation here shortly after 1:00 o’clock Sunday morning. Helping Mrs. Hemphill out of her chair is Don Barton, district traffic superintendent as chief operator Jean LaBorde looks on.

George Allen, Eagle forward, drives in for a lay-up shot against Floresville and bags the bucket despite Louis Sanchez’s leaping attempt to block the shot. Barry Poth is at the far right and No. 22 is Floresville’s Tommy Koch. FHS won, 37-27.
