The public is invited to a special flag raising ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 2, to honor Sgt. Moises Herrera Jr. A flag will be raised at 10 a.m. at the Pleasanton Fire Station on Hunt Street.
Afterwards, a flag will also be placed at San Ysidro Cemetery in Pleasanton, between Sgt. Moises Herrera Jr.’s grave and his father’s grave. Both were Purple Heart recipients.
Moises was injured in Vietnam in 1968 and passed away on Nov. 2, 1969. That day in 1969 was proclaimed by then Pleasanton Mayor Richard Wehman as “Sgt. Moises Herrera Jr. and Pleasanton Firemen Day.”
Current Pleasanton Mayor Travis Hall proclaimed Nov. 2 as Moises Herrera Jr. Day at last week’s council meeting. Please read the Pleasanton City Council story on page 6A of this week’s Pleasanton Express for details.
