On Saturday, June 12, the Atascosa County American Legion Post 436 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4853 cohosted a Flag Retirement Ceremony in Jourdanton. The two posts jointly retired 75 American Flags in honor of Flag Day on June 14 and Women Veteran’s Day on June 12. Pictured left to right are: Patricia Hewitt, VFW 4853, Judge Advocate- Legion 436; Mark Anderson- VFW Post 4853 Senior Vice Commander; Connie Jo Popham- Legion 436 Historian; Becky Mueller- Legion 436 2nd Vice Commander/ Financial Officer; Jim Ray- Legion 436; Caroline George- Legion Adjutant and Willie Leal Jr. – Commander (incoming 2021-2022).
