Five locals win at Daetwyler Relays

Pleasanton’s girls and boys track and field teams were second and fifth, respectively, at Jourdanton’s Daetwyler Relays on March 8.

For the girls, Kennedy Guajardo won the 800 meter run in 2:29.75, with Caitlyn Nieschwitz in second in 2:32.38. Nieschwitz won the mile run in 5:45.53.

Nika Garcia took second in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 7 1/2 inches. Brently Blalock placed second in discus, throwing it 90 feet, 10 inches.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Eryn Wilson, Ariel Mejia, Jasmine Watkins and Sydney Sykes placed second in 1:53.51.

For the boys, Dalton Hobbs won the high jump at six feet, two inches.

Jaret Statler had a 10- foot jump to win the pole vault.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Daniel Valadez, Christian Del Toro, Joel Arevalo and Nathaniel Acevedo was second in 1:36.16.

Meanwhile, both Jourdanton teams took seventh place. Shyanne Bauerle won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, six inches. Ally Foster was third with a leap of 15 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

For the boys, Evan Lambert was second in the discus, throwing it 110 feet, five inches. Jarel Lilly took third in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet and one-half inch.
