One man was shot and killed at an oil field yard off of IH37 and FM 1784 last Friday due to an alleged salary dispute.

According to Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward, a fatal shooting occurred Thursday, February 26 around 10:30 a.m.

One man, whose name has not been released, was allegedly shot and killed by an employee/business partner of an oil field company, located at the yard of OGPM, LLC near FM1784 near IH 37 in northern Atascosa County. According to a spokesperson of OGPM, the employees were affiliated with Tally Tech Services out of Deer Park, Texas.

The shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between the victim, who was the employer of the company, and the alleged shooter over non-payment of salary.

The victim, from Deer Park, allegedly reached for a gun in his pocket and was warned by the partner to not do it. The partner pulled his own gun while the employer did the same. He was shot three times and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Both pistols were recovered and the 43-year-old employee was questioned and released pending outcome of the investigation.

Witnesses are also being interviewed as the investigation continues.
