Emergency Mortgage Assistance available

Low income families in rural communities may qualify for the Texas Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (TEMAP). The Alamo Area Council of Governments may pay up to six months of mortgage payments for qualifying families (five months in arrears and one future payment).

This program is administered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs with Community Development Block Grant CARES Act funds.

You may qualify for mortgage assistance:

•If you live in one of the 12 Alamo Area rural counties.

•If you have been impacted by COVID-19.

•If you are at or below 80% Average Median Income (AMI).

•If your mortgage is at or below 150% Fair Market Rent/Small Area Fair Market Rent.

•If your mortgage is in first or second lien position.

•If where you reside is your primary residence.

“The first step is to check the AMI calculator because a lot of eligibility will all depend on their annual income,” said Crystal Campos-Rosales of AACOG. “Then, their mortgage will have to be at or below the 150% FMR.”

You can scan the QR code on the lower right side of the accompanying graphic. The QR code will take you directly to the AMI link, where you can search by zip code or county.

To start the intake process, please call 866-231- 4922 or email TEMAP@aacog.com. If there is not an answer, please leave a message with your contact information.
