Judge Elsie B. Guerra, of Pleasanton, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the age of 65. Elsie, the youngest of four children and only daughter, was born on Saturday, May 26, 1956, to Jake A. and Celia (Brown) Guerra in Poteet.

Elsie served as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Pleasanton for many years. Most recently, she served as the Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Poteet.

Elsie is survived by her spouse, Guadalupe “Lupe” Escalante, Jr.; nieces, Amy G. Talamantez (Edward), Patty Lopez (Geronimo), Diana Robles and Cynthia Hograves (Jimmy); nephews, Jake Guerra III, Ernest Guerra (Sylvia), Oscar Guerra, Ricky Guerra (Fanny), Joe Louis Guerra, Jr. (Jamie) and Jason Guerra (Amy) and numerous great-nieces and nephews; cousins and friends. She is also survived by her mother in-law, Dolores Escalante; sisters-in-law, Senaida Guerra, Maria Dalia Recio and Janie Stokes and brothers-inlaw, Leonides Escalante and Gilbert Escalante.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jake Guerra, Jr. and wife Juanita Guerra; brother, Joe Louis Guerra, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Rodolfo and Roberto Escalante; nephew, David Guerra; niece, Jo Lynn Guerra; great-nephew, Domingo Robles, Jr.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved cat of 18 years, Tigger.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September, 25, 2021, at Cowboy Fellowship, 561 FM 3350 in Jourdanton from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, on Olivares Road off Brown Avenue, outside Rossville.
