Edward Geyer

Edward Michael Geyer, age 62, of Somerset passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Edward was born on March 1, 1955.

He was a graduate of Somerset High School. Edward earned his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture from Tarleton State University, Stephenville in 1977. Edward and Jeanette met in Stephenville, Texas and married in July 1979. Edward started his career in teaching at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch near Amarillo. Edward and his wife moved south in 1981. Edward took a job working at Poteet ISD, left for a few years to Lytle ISD and returned to Poteet ISD to finish his teaching career.

Edward and Jeanette raised twin boys and watched them become successful people. Ed was a dedicated, compassionate person noteworthy of having an innate ability to inspire young minds through vocational and leadership lessons. He was known to be straight forward and honest, the embodiment of moral character and ethical principles; a father to many, but the best dad two sons could ever imagine; a faithful, loving and spirited husband, who never lost focus on the most important aspects in his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Angeline Geyer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeanette; children, Levi J. and his wife Jackie, Zachery J. and his wife Kate M.; Grandchildren: Timothy, Ava, James, Zoelie and one soon to be born; and his sister and brother, Debra M. Jenke, and James D. Geyer and wife Susan. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 presided by Father Alex Pereida at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Somerset.
