Edna Helen Black of Pleasanton was born April 23, 1917 in Leming, Texas to Louis and Mary Arnold. Edna passed away at the age of 99 on April 2, 2017.
On January 21, 1941 she married Curtis Black. They lived north of Poteet where they farmed and raised their family. Edna made taking care of the home and children as her career. She was an extremely hard worker and never sought to be the center of attention. God, family and country were the most important things in her life.
Edna is preceded in death by both her parents, husband Curtis, sisters Lorine and Philemina and son Charles. Edna is survived by son James and his wife Janell and son Ray and his wife Kay; grandchildren Jay Black of Poteet, Kevin Black and his wife Ruthie of Austin, Shannon Nine and her husband Steve of Huntsville, Al, Kimberly Englert and her husband TJ of Minneapolis, MN, Cheryl Cannon and her husband Todd of Dallas, Carla Walsh and her husband Dan of Atlanta, GA and Cathy Black of San Antonio. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 10, 2017, 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Pleasanton, Texas. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Leming.
