Early voting for the special election run off for Texas Senate District 19 began Monday, September 10 and continues through Friday, September 14. This is a critical election for Atascosa County. Voters will be choosing who represents Atascosa County which is part of District 19 in the Texas Senate. The special election was called to replace former Texas Senator District 19 Carlos Uresti who had to vacate his seat due to felony charges. There are two candidates to choose from: Pete Flores, Republican, Pleasanton who is a retired Col. “I would bring strong managerial, budgetary, governance and leadership experience to the Texas Senate having been responsible for $60-million budgets, managed more than two dozen field offices, and supervised more than 127 civilian employees and nearly 532 commissioned officers,” Flores said.
