The Pleasanton boys basketball team closed non-district play on a serious roll.
With the Eagles’ 54-53 road victory over Bandera on Monday night, Pleasanton extended its winning streak to seven games.
The Eagles have now won 11 of their last 12.
Santiago Arguijo led Pleasanton with 14 points against Bandera, which held a two-point lead at the halftime break.
The Eagles took a three-point edge heading into the final quarter and held on to avenge a loss in their season opener Nov. 16.
Dalton Hobbs and Claven Maxwell each scored 13 points for Pleasanton.
On Friday, the Eagles traveled for an afternoon tilt with Pearsall.
Pleasanton came home with a 61-45 win behind 15 points from Arguijo.
The Eagles raced out of the gates for a 24-13 advantage after the first quarter.
Pleasanton hit six 3-pointers in the first eight minutes, including three from Ralph Guerrero. He finished with 13 points.
The Eagles led 56-31
after three quarters before the Mavericks cut into the deficit.
Pleasanton had another close win Jan. 2 at home.
The Eagles held off Lytle 61-59 to beat the Pirates for the second time this season.
Pleasanton got off to a slow start, trailing at the end of each of the first three quarters.
However, the Eagles got enough in the end, including seven points from Arguijo in the fourth quarter.
Hobbs led the team with 18 points against the Pirates, and Guerrero added 14.
Arguijo finished with 12 points.
Pleasanton sits at 20-5 on the season entering district play.
The Eagles will play at Poteet on Friday in their District 30-4A opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
The Aggies closed their non-district schedule Tuesday against Eagle Pass Winn.
