Eagles split pair of games over Thanksgiving break

The Pleasanton Eagles split a pair of games over the Thanksgiving break.

The Eagles opened the week with a 76-65 loss on the road to San Antonio YMLA on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Pleasanton led 35-32 at halftime. YMLA would go on to outscore the Eagles 16-6 in the third quarter and 44-30 in the second half to hand the Eagles their second loss of the season.

Sophomore RJ Marquez led the way with 27 points for Pleasanton. Juan Lopez was also in double figures with 10 points.

The Eagles rebounded on Saturday, Nov. 28, with a dominant 76-34 win at home over Eagle Pass Winn.

Pleasanton outscored Winn 29-9 in the second quarter to take a commanding 42-13 halftime lead. The Eagles would then outscore the Mavericks 34-21 in the second half to secure their third win of the season.

Lopez posted a teamhigh 16 points. Marquez (14 pts.) and Estevan Jackson (13 pts.) each finished in double figures for the Eagles.

Pleasanton (3-2) hosted Bandera on Tuesday and hosts Hondo on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
