Pleasanton Eagles lost to Hidalgo in their two out of three baseball playoffs in the 4-A Area Round. Games were played at Falfurrias. The Eagles lost the first game, 6-2, then won the second game, 4-3, before losing in the final match-up, 13-1.
In the first game, Friday, May 10, the Eagles opened up with a two-run lead when Aaron Perez homered with a player on base, holding Hidalgo scoreless in that inning.
Hidalgo scored once in the second inning, twice in the third, once again in the fourth and twice in the fifth. Both teams didn’t score in the sixth and seventh, giving Hidalgo its 6-2 victory.
Perez lead Pleasanton batters in the game, getting two hits out of three at bats.
Pleasanton won the next game, Saturday, 4-3.
The Eagles built a fourrun lead in the fourth inning and kept Hidalgo in check until HHS scored three runs in the top of the seventh, giving the Eagles their 4-3 victory.
To get scoring started, Eagle Deryian Martinez tripled to bring in one run in the second inning.
Eagle Devyn Perez got on base by an RBI error in the fourth inning that led to three runs for Pleasanton to give them their four-run lead for their eventual 4-3 win.
PHS pitcher Hilton Mehrmann notched the win for the green-andwhite, surrendering three runs on only three hits by Hidalgo. The win was aided by Aaron Perez who, in two-thirds of an inning, recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Pleasanton.
Mehrmann went 2 for 3 at the plate leading the Eagles in hits.
Pleasanton baseballers were sure-handed in not committing a single error in the 4-3 win.
In the final game the Eagles had trouble keeping up with Hidalgo, losing under the five-inning rule, 13-1.
