Eagles end year against Rockport-Fulton




The Eagle junior varsity squad were shutout by Rockport-Fulton 20-0 last week.

The Pirates took a 14-0 lead at half-time, but in the second half Jeremy Ward led after forcing two turnovers.

The offense was led by running back Garrett Stutts for Pleasanton.

The Eagles finished their season 4-6 overall.

Eagle Freshmen

The Eagle freshmen team defeated Rockport- Fulton 20-6 last week in the regular season finale.

Pleasanton struck first when Phillip Criado rushed 40 yards for a touchdown.

Then, Christian Gaitan forced a fumble, which Pleasanton recovered.

Criado scored again from the 3-yard line and Gabriel Murillo converted the two-point attempt.

Pleasanton led 14-0 at halftime.

After Rockport-Fulton scored in the second half, the Eagles responded when Criado dashed 5 yards for a touchdown.

The special teams were led by Epi Gonzales, Christian Gaitan and Isaac Mendiola.

Defensive standouts were: Justin Cavender and Krys Palmer.

Pleasanton ended its season 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in district this season, which earned the Eagles the district championship.

8th Grade ‘A’ Eagles

The 8th grade Eagle ‘A’ team traveled to Crystal City and fell 30-0 last week.

The inclement weather was a factor as both teams battled drizzle throughout the game.

“The final score doesn’t reflect the effort of these young men on the field,” Pleasanton coach Rudy Franco said.

The 8th grade Eagle ‘B’ squad lost 14-8 to Crystal

City last week on the road.

The 7th grade ‘A’ Eagle team beat Crystal City

32-6 last week.

Crystal City scored first, but Pleasanton stepped up defensively and forced a safety by Connor Zuniga and Luis Arguijo.

Then, Riley Torres returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown for the

Eagles.

Just before halftime, Nathaniel Acevedo connected with Dalton Hobbs to drive down to the Crystal City

2-yard line.

Acevedo punched it into the end zone for an Eagle touchdown shortly after.

In the second half,

Brandon Brill returned a kickoff for a score while

Riley Torres rushed for a UNPUBLISHEDtouchdown.

Pleasantoncom improved to

5-3 overall on the season after the victory.H) 7:30

7th Grade ‘B’ Eagles

The 7th grade ‘B’ Eagles battled Crystal City to a scoreless tie last week.

Defensively, Cass Campbell led Pleasanton while quarterback Jarrett Statler led the team in rushing.
