The Pleasanton Eagles remained undefeated after beating the Kingsville Brahmas 47-22 on Friday night.

“From the get go, they were pretty on it…Offensively and defensively, I thought we got after it pretty good in the first quarter and just carried over into the whole game,” head coach Stephen Liska said.

The Eagles began strong with Nathaniel Acevedo completing a pass to Joel Arevalo for a 14-yard touchdown. Preston Thompson’s kick was good, putting the Eagles up 7-0.

King would take an 8-7 lead briefly early in the second quarter following a 1-yard run by Lupe Cavazos. Behind two touchdown runs by Arevalo and a 12-yard touchdown run by Daniel Valadez, the Eagles would take a 27-8 lead into halftime.

Pleasanton’s lead would grow to 47-8 thanks to Nathaniel Acevedo’s three touchdown passes in the third quarter, a 69-yarder to Valadez and two to Dalton Hobbs.

Acevedo would finish the day 7-of-16 passing for 122 yards and four touchdowns. Hobbs finished with three catches for 23 yards and two touchdowns.

The Brahmas attempted to come back with a 26-yard touchdown and a 99-yard offensive fumble recovery to pull within 47-22.

“Last year we lost and this year we blew them out,” said Joel Arevalo, who finished with 93 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries to go with his 14-yard touchdown reception.

“It’s the final game before district starts, so it’s the final chapter of non-district schedule,” Liska said. “[We’re] 6-0 here at Pleasanton. [I’m] very excited about being 6-0. We got some things to get fixed still, but the energy was there and anytime you can win on Parent’s Night at home, that’s an awesome feeling.”

The Eagles (6-0) will travel to Gonzales (4-1) to open play in District 15-4A DI on Oct. 11.
