The Eagles were 1 of 48 teams that qualified in the Division 2 bracket which consists of 3A-Division 1 and 4A schools. The 48 teams were divided up into 12 Pools of 4 teams for Pool play.

On Day 1 of Pool Play on Thursday, June 28, the Eagles went 1-2 defeating Stephenville 60-38. The Eagles lost to Melissa 56-35 and Pleasant Grove 50-48 in double overtime.

The team the Eagles went two OT’s with, Pleasant Grove, won and advanced to the Championship Game of the tournament. Pleasant Grove was beaten by Midlothian Heritage in the Finals.

The Eagles battled for two days against some great competition at the State 7on7 Tournament.

Stephenville is a powerhouse and legendary Tx HS Football Team that has won multiple State Football Championships.

Melissa was picked to win this tournament and should be a contender for the State UIL Title this December.

Pleasant Grove won State last December and should be in the mix again this upcoming 2018 season.

Graham lost to Pleasant Grove in the Semifinals last December.

Waco LaVega would have been Pleasanton’s Round 3 Playoff opponent, had the Eagles beat Canyon Lake.

“These players showed true attitude, accountability, commitment, great effort and stayed focused on their game in the heat of competition as each team they faced were proven contenders. We are very proud of our Eagles,” said Eagles’ Head Football Coach Stephen Liska.
