Thanks to everyone who entered the Jourdanton Garden Club “Don’t Be a Litterbug” Contest earlier this year. The club was very impressed by the quality of the entries. This year, thanks to the fifth grade teachers at Jourdanton Elementary and Mrs. House in fourth grade, they received over 70 written entries and more than 25 posters.

The winner of the poster contest for those in first and second grade was Toby Jones. The second and third place winners were Jaycee Delgado and Sadie Delgado, respectively.

The winners in the thirdfifth grade poster category were Jayden Huschke, Annalisa Delgado, Hayden Schucman and Tiffany Davis. More prizes were granted in this category than expected, due to the work of these impressive artists.

The essay contest was open to children in grades third-fifth. The winners wrote about the topic, “Why we should keep Jourdanton litter free.” Avery Flores, Clara Ann Estrada, Arianna Peralta and Noah Guerra were the literary winners. The club received numerous entries which expounded on the theme.
