DAYLON SHEARRER




 

 

Daylon E. Shearrer, 81, of Pleasanton, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Born in Poteet, Texas to John Raymond and Nina Louise Shearrer, he lived most of his life in Pleasanton. Mr. Shearrer was born September 1, 1931.

Daylon was a loving and generous man who enjoyed helping his family and his brothers and sisters in Christ and held a special love for the pastors he served. He enjoyed caring for his beautiful lawn and flowers and was an expert at raising and sharing fruits, nuts and vegetables.

He served our country in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954 and still enjoyed the special camaraderie that he shared with his Air Force buddies.

Daylon is survived by his wife Jean of 54 years, sons and daughter-in-law, Keith Shearrer of Pleasanton, Texas; and Kelly and Karen Shearrer of Richardson, Texas as well as his three grandchildren, Kayla Shearrer of Fairbanks, Alaska, Dottie Lockett and husband Brian Lockett of Dallas, Texas, Garrett Shearrer of Pleasanton, Texas; his brothers, Norman Shearrer of Poteet, Texas and Sammy Shearrer of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. Daylon was preceded in death by his sister, Wava Schliesing of Poteet, Texas and his parents, Raymond and Louise (Churchill) Shearrer of Pleasanton.

Visitation was held from 3 – 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 3 – 6 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Sunday, April 28, 2013. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Hurley Funeral Home, Pleasanton on Monday, April 29, 2013. Interment followed in Rutledge Cemetery, Poteet.
