DAVID HERRERA



 

 

David Roger Herrera, born in Pleasanton to Pilar and Javiera Herrera, passed away on November 7, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, retiring as a Gunnery Sgt. He earned his Bachelors Degree from St. Mary’s University to pursue his passion for teaching. He loved his family, friends, movies, pets and the outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, kind and loving father, and a special person, who touched many hearts. David also served as a proud member of the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America) and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. David is preceded in death by parents, Pilar and Javiera Herrera, and sisters, Mary Zamarippa, Oralia Leal, and Amelia Salinas. He is survived by wife, Jennifer Marie Herrera; children, Robyn Kay Pesina, Justin David Herrera, Sarah Anneliese Lark and Adam Michael Lark; grandchildren, Chloe Arianna Lark, Cadence Emily Smith, Ruben David Pesina, and Mathiana Salome Pesina; siblings, Pilar Herrera, Jr. Jesse Herrera, Angelita Gallegos, Antonia Martinez and Carmen Bowstring, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Donations may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation or American Cancer Society. A visitation and Mass was held Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 1PM.
