DAN PITTS

Pastor Dan Pitts, 87, of Pleasanton passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side. He was born April 27, 1934, in Fulton, KY to Robert and Jimmy Pitts.

Dan retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service. He was a proud American that loved his country. Dan was a dedicated servant to our Lord and Savior and served as Pastor for numerous Churches of Christ through the states for 50 years. Some would say he was a retired Pastor, but the truth is you never retire from God’s work. He enjoyed studying scripture and spending time in prayer. He believed you should help others whenever possible and show love to all. Pastor Dan was an Insurance Agent for Woodmen’s Life Insurance Company for many years as well. He was well-loved by the Lytle and Natalia area communities and has positively impacted the lives of so many. Pastor Dan served 25 years as the football announcer for the Lytle School District. He also spearheaded the flag ceremony for all the schools in Devine as well as the Police Department and the Devine Cemetery. When he was not studying or volunteering in the community he enjoyed woodworking and making pens for people. Later in life, after dementia began to take hold of him, he took up painting and was rather good at it. It was a way that he could express himself when he was not able to in other ways.

Pastor Dan is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jimmy Pitts; his beloved wife of 60 years Virginia Bailey Pitts; and his son Bret Pitts.

He is survived by his daughter Sherry Danice Kane and Melanie Payne; sisters Norma Cantrell and Linda Pitts Decker; grandchildren Forrest Kane, Amber Dawn Kane and Brandon Walker and his wife Jessie Carrol Walker; great-grandchildren Cedric, Riley, Zoey, Lillie, Lacey, Logan and Noah.
