Indian Stadium was filled with “Courage, Pride and Heart” on Friday night as 2021 Homecoming festivities were celebrated. Molly Fluitt was named the 2021 Homecoming Queen and Hungarian foreign exchange student, Koda Varga, was named 2021 Homecoming King.
Ed Robbins and Judy Brooks Winn were named the Coming Home King and Queen for 2021. Both were graduates from the JHS Class of 1961.
The good times continued after the halftime celebrations as the Indians defeated the Randolph Rohawks, 12-6. Jourdanton welcomed quarterback Matt Hicks back from injury on Friday and Hicks scored the winning touchdown in the second quarter on a pass to Luke Tapp.
During the Oct. 1 game, four individuals were inducted into the 2021 Jourdanton ISD Hall of Honor. The inductees were Glenn Nye “Sandy” Steinle Jr., Jesse Esquivel (who passed away on Aug. 4, 2020), Jerome Michael Tymrak (who passed away on Aug. 31, 2020) and Joyce Bowen Steinle, all graduates of JHS.
The Indians currently sit in second in district 14- 3A-1. Jourdanton will be back in action this Friday when they travel to face San Antonio Cole. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
