On Saturday, Feb. 27, Atascosa County hosted a 500-dose COVID vaccine clinic at the Poteet Strawberry Festival Grounds. The clinic was organized by Atascosa County Judge Bob Hurley in coordination with Atascosa County EMS, Congressman Henry Cuellar and the state. Judge Hurley gave thanks to Loren Gillespie for providing lunch and Pct. 1 Commissioner Mark Gillespie and his staff for helping with parking and traffic flow. He also thanked Coastal Bend College nursing students for their help in administering shots as well as the Texas National Guard , Atascosa EMS and the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association for the use of the grounds. The Atascosa County Emergency Management Office and Judge Hurley will keep the community informed when more vaccine is available.
