. School Closures

Effective Friday, March 13, schools across Atascosa County are closed to students for the week of March 16-20 for proactive reasons. All extracurricular activities are suspended. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, UIL suspended all rehearsals and practices outside of the school day until March 29.

On Tuesday, March 17, Pleasanton ISD announced their campuses will remain closed through Friday, April 3. As of Tuesday, March 17, Pleasanton, Jourdanton, Poteet and Charlotte ISD announced they have extended their school closures through Friday, April 3.

. State Assessment (STAAR)

On Monday, March 16, Governor Greg Abbott waived the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing requirements for the 2019- 2020 school year. There will be no STAAR testing.


Curbside meals will be available for all students to pick up at the Junior High Campus from March 16-20. Breakfast will be served from 8:30–10 a.m. Lunch will be served from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. These meals are available to all PISD students. Students must be present to receive a meal.



Starting Tuesday, March 17, Pleasanton ISD teachers will be contacting each child’s parent to help guide their instructional plans moving forward with this school closure. If you have not received a phone call by Wednesday, March 18, please call your child’s school. Additional information will be released by the district later in the week after speaking to parents.


Curbside meals will be available for students to pick up at the ECC Cafeteria side doors from March 17-20. All children must be under the age of 18, and they will have to be present to receive a meal. Breakfast will be served at 8-9 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. – 12 noon.

Jourdanton ISD has a list of educational resources that has been vetted by their Jourdanton ISD Instructional team. This list of resources is designed to help your child educationally engage throughout this school closure. A link to this list can be accessed on the Jourdanton Pride Facebook page.




Curbside meals are available for all Poteet ISD students March 17-20 at the Elementary/ Intermediate Cafeteria roll-up door.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Poteet ISD teachers will be planning the week of March 16-20 on providing information to their students through a combination of online lessons and homework packets. If this school closure continues, there will be a schedule available for students to see lessons from their teachers on YouTube coupled with “homework” packets that can be picked up during lunch pick up. The packets will be available every Monday along with the lessons. Poteet ISD will be able to receive the complete packets every Friday for grading.


Curbside meals will be available for students 18 and under from March 17-20 at the High School Cafeteria gate. Children must be present to receive a meal; an ID will not be required. Breakfast/Lunch will be served from 9-11 a.m.

. Church Services

Below is some information on the church services across Atascosa County. There have been several cancelations and some churches taking proactive accommodations and precautions. We will update our Facebook Page as more information becomes available.

. First United Methodist Church Pleasanton

FUMC will be having worship at the usual time. As for now the choice to cancel has been left to the local church to make the decision. This could change going forward, but FUMC Pleasanton has not canceled services.

. Pleasanton Church of Christ

Pleasanton Church of Christ will have Sunday morning worship through April 1, and it will also be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. No a.m. Bible classes, p.m. services, or Wedensday night services.

. Cowboy Fellowship

Sunday morning at 8:30 and 10:45 Cowboy Fellowship church services will be broadcast live on their Facebook page for those who are unable to attend worship at our campuses. They will be holding normal services at all campuses, if you want to attend in person.

. St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Pleasanton

All weekend masses are suspended until further notice in accordance with the Archdiocese decree and CDC. Father Mese is still available for anyone seeking reconciliation; please call the office at 830-569-3356 to schedule an appointment.

. First Baptist Church Pleasanton

The First Baptist Pleasanton will hold normal services, and the services will be live streamed on their Facebook page. Also, there will be no AWANAs or meal Wednesday night.

. St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Jourdanton

All masses are canceled for St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Jourdanton. Father will have short masses to pray our fight against coronavirus. St. Matthew’s is not encouraging anyone to attend but to prioritize your own health.

. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Charlotte

St. Rise Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte suspended all services through March 31 per Archbishop Gustavo.

. Trinity Baptist Church Pleasanton

Services will continue as normal. They will not be having a hand shaking time during the service. Please respect those who do not wish to shake hands or accept hugs. There will be hand sanitizer is available in the lobby and by the coffee bar. Sunday morning service at 9:30 a.m. for Bible study and 10:45 a.m. for worship. Sunday Evening service at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

. First Baptist Church Jourdanton

All activities for Sunday School and Worship will continue regularly this Sunday. They will not have the prayer meeting this week, and in line with school cancellations, Wednesday night activities on March 18 are also canceled. For those that need to stay home, they will live-stream the sermon on Facebook.

. Hosanna Baptist Church Poteet

Hosanna Baptist Church will have service just like any other Sunday service. There will be a Spanish Service at 9 a.m. and English Service at 11 a.m.

. El Calvario Baptist Church Jourdanton

El Calvario Baptist Church in Jourdanton will have one service (bilingual) at 11 a.m. and no Sunday School.

. Christ the Rock Leming

Christ the Rock in Leming will not be closing and will be having all normal services at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
