Commissioners’ Court approves D.A.’s resolution for border prosecution unit grant for 2015 fiscal year

• After call to order of the Special Meeting of the Commissioners’ Court, Judge Bautista called on Atascosa County Justice of the Peace Orlando Carrasco, Pct. 3, who requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Chriselda G. Shaver as a Full-Time Clerk at the pay rate of $2,552.00/month for the remainder of the year. Chriselda G. Shaver will then become a Full-Time Clerk for the year beginning January 1, 2015 with a salary of $2,752.00/ month. Request was approved.

• The office of Sgt. John Henke, TxDPS, requested appropriate action concerning personnel. He requested the employment of Betty F. Shannon as a Part-Time Highway Patrol Clerk at the pay rate of $8.25/hr., as previously approved, beginning December 1, 2014. Request was granted.

• Atascosa County Clerk Margaret Littleton requested appropriate action concerning personnel. She requested benefits based on completion of probation period for Jacquie Rowland. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Justice of the Peace Kyle Bradley, Pct. 2, requested appropriate action concerning Rock Solid Internet & Telephone Service to be paid out of Justice Court Technology Fund for services in the amount of $682.35. Request was granted.

• The office of District Attorney Rene Peña requested appropriate action concerning Resolution for the Border Prosecution Unit Grant for 2015 Fiscal Year. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Clerk Diane Gonzales requested appropriate action concerning personnel. She requested the employment of Samantha Stanley as a Part-Time Deputy Clerk at the pay rate of $10.00/ hr. beginning November 24, 2014. Request was granted.

County Clerk Gonzales then requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Kimberly Lynn Ponton as a Full Time Deputy Clerk at the pay rate of $30,624.00/per year beginning December 1, 2014. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Roger Garcia as a Deputy Sheriff at the pay rate of $40,944.00/per year with $120.00 uniform allowance, beginning December 1, 2014 . Request was granted.

Sheriff Soward then requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Steven Portillo as a Corrections Officer at the pay rate of $3,056.00/ monthly with $120.00 uniform allowance, beginning November 24, 2014. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Auditor Ray Samson requested appropriate action concerning Extended Warranty Agreement(s) with Guardian Security Solutions, LC. Commissioners’ Court accepted a 3-year plan at a cost of $17,477.00. Request was granted.

• Atascosa County Commmissioner Lonnie Gillespie, Pct. 1, requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for a road bore at 3308 Coble Road. Request was approved.

Comm. Gillespie then requested appropriate action concerning entering into Commissioners’ Court MInutes his Continuing Education Hours. This was from County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas and 65 credits were accumulated. Request was granted.

• Atascosa County Commissioner William Torans gave a progress report on the Precinct 2 Building Project. He said that the building program is proceeding well and is a little over 60% completed.

Comm. Torans then requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Emiliano Garcia as a Precinct 2 Worker at the pay rate of $2,750.00/ per month beginning November 24, 2014. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Commissioner Freddie Ogden, Pct. 3, requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for a road bore off of CR 332A. Request was granted.

• Atascosa County Commissioner Bill Carroll, Pct. 4, requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for a road bore off of Joe K. Williams Road. Request was approved.

Comm. Carroll then requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for a road bore at 1434 CR 422. Request was granted.

Comm. Carroll requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for two 12” road bores off of CR 429. Request was approved.

Comm. Carroll then requested appropriate action concerning McCoy Water Supply Corporation request for a road bore at 2590 Heinen Road. Request was granted.

Comm. Carroll requested appropriate action concerning personnel. He requested acknowledgment of completion of probation period for John Morris as a Precinct Worker. Request was approved.

• Atascosa County Judge Diana Bautista requested appropriate action concerning the employment of Jeanne B. Israel as a Secretary at the pay rate of $15.00/hr. beginning December 1, 2014. Request was granted.

Judge Bautista then requested appropriate action concerning Conference Expenses for Newly Elected Offiials. Commissioners’ Court approved related expenses.

Judge Bautista requested appropriate action concerning Capital Outlay Expenditure Requests.

• Assistant County Attorney Molly Solis requested appropriate action concerning purchase of Fellowes Powershred 2331S 27-30 Sheet Strip- Cut Shredder at a cost of $1,450.00. Request was approved.

Ass’t County Attorney Solis then requested appropriate action concerning purchase of APX7500 Dual Band High Power computer and related accessories from Motorola Solutions at a cost of $4,200.00. Request was granted.

Ass’t County Attorney Solis then requested appropriate action concerning purchase of an APX7000 Digital Portable Radio and accessories from Motorala Solutions at a cost of $3,967.25. Request was approved.

Commissioners’ Court then went into Executive Session.

Upon returning to Open Session, Commissioners’ Court decided to continue with Real Property negotiations.

Judge Bautista asked for bills to be paid and then adjourned the meeting.

Judge Bautista reminded court attendees that the Atascosa County Courthouse would be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27-28, 2014.

Honorable Atascosa County Judge Diana J. Bautista reminded court attendees that the next Regular Meeting of the Commissioners’ Court would be on Monday, December 8, 2014, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
