The 2021 Merry on Main committee is busy preparing for the annual two-day Christmas festival held at the Pleasanton River Park, Dec. 3 and downtown Historic Pleasanton, Dec. 4.
This two-day annual Christmas event has something for everyone– local craft and retail vendors, food trucks, live music, carolers, children’s events, kid zone, photos with Santa and the Grinch, Firework Show, Lighted Christmas Parade and more! New this year is Merrier on Main, an after-party dance and concert featuring David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales on Saturday, Dec. 4 after the lighted Christmas parade and fireworks.
Currently, Merry on Main is seeking vendors, sponsors, and registrations for this year’s festival. Events to sign up for include Lighted Christmas Parade, Merry on Main Talent Show, Little Miss Merry on Main Pageant, Lighted Tree Trail, Christmas Story – The Reason for the Season play auditions, food trucks, vendors, sponsorships and volunteers. Merry on Main is officially accepting audition videos for this year’s Merry on Main Talent Show. The talent show will be hosted by the one and only Cleto Rodriguez! Showcase your talent and submit your one-minute video to firstname.lastname@example.org to be considered. Video entries are due Nov. 7. The age groups are 5-10, 11-17, and 18 plus. The top 10 contes- tants in each age group will perform at the Merry on Main Talent Show. Prizes per age group will be 1st place $300, 2nd place $200, and 3rd place $100. The 18 plus winner will perform with David Lee Garza at the Merrier on Main after party dance and concert, Dec. 4.
Winter Wonderland Lighted Tree Trail
One of the most favorite and spectacular visions of Merry on Main is the Winter Wonderland Lighted Tree Trail at the Pleasanton River Park. Last year over 100 businesses and non-profits participated. Christmas Story – Reason for the Season play
Last year, for the first time at Merry on Main, a live production of “Christmas Story – The Reason for the Season” was presented at the Plestex Movie Theatre.
Atascosa County Judge Robert L. Hurley produced and co-directed with Lucinda Vickers this Christmas presentation of the story of Jesus Christ. The script adaptation was done by Robert Hurley, with appreciation to a portion of the script by Tanis Harms and Dramatix, edited by Robert Hurley. Auditions for parts in “Christmas Story – The Reason for the Season” will be announced soon on the Merry on Main Facebook page and in the Pleasanton Express.
