City of Pleasanton awarded one-million-dollar grantFree Access

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded the City of Pleasanton a one-million-dollar grant through the CARES Act to support renovations and construction for the Pleasanton Business Center. EMC Strategy Group, LLC, which serves as the city’s business and economic development consulting firm, worked with City Manager Johnny Huizar and his leadership team to submit the grant application on behalf of the city late last fall.

“We are very excited about this great funding opportunity that the EDA has awarded to the City of Pleasanton,” says Mayor Travis Hall. “I am especially grateful to the Office of Congressman Henry Cuellar, EDA Regional Director Jorge Ayala, our city staff, and EMC Strategy Group for their combined efforts in this successful grant process,” adds Mayor Hall.

The Pleasanton Business Center will be located at a former elementary school within the city’s historic downtown main street. The center will house a business incubator, retail office space, and government resource offices. The center will provide special programs and initiatives aimed at supporting small businesses and business start-ups that will impact job creation and economic development for the City of Pleasanton and surrounding areas.

“I applaud the EDA for its commitment to support the Pleasanton Business Center Project,” said Congressman Henry Cuellar. “Mayor Travis Hall and the entire Pleasanton team presented a valuable project to the EDA that demonstrated a need for investment through the CARES grant. The Pleasanton Business Center will have a significant impact on the citizens of Pleasanton, Atascosa County, and the 28th Congressional District. As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, I am committed to funding programs that protect the economic well-being of workers and small businesses.”

The City of Pleasanton will provide additional information about the business center and incubator onthe city’s website ( in the next several weeks. For more information, please contact or call 210.960.4340, ext. 102.
