City, Local Businesses to be Featured on KLRN Public Television Auction

The City of Pleasanton and 21 local businesses will be featured during KLRN public television’s upcoming 46th Annual Blazing Gavels Auction, June 7-16. On Thursday, June 7 – the opening night of the auction— as well as throughout the auction, Pleasanton viewers will see familiar local places and spaces, as well as features on outstanding auction items donated by local businesses. The auction starts at 7:00 nightly.

The Blazing Gavels Auction, KLRN’s largest and most ambitious fundraising event of 2012, is made possible by a community of more than 1,500 businesses and individual donors, giving viewers the opportunity to bid on more than 5,000 intriguing items and services – all in support of public television.

It is because of the generous participation by numerous Pleasanton businesses and individuals that the city of Pleasanton will be specially highlighted and the local contributions will be featured (see sidebar: “Local Businesses Support Public Television Auction”).

Pleasanton business owner Cindy Carr, owner of Nest Feathers and an auction participant, says the Blazing Gavels Auction is beneficial to everyone involved. “Our wonderful city gets exposure to the greater San Antonio viewing area, and the contributing businesses receive wide-ranging television publicity for a fraction of the cost of ordinary advertising,” she says, adding that the viewers benefit by getting great deals on exciting merchandise. And most importantly, the money raised during the event allows KLRN to continue to do great work on-air and in the community.

While June 7-16 are the inclusive dates of the auction, Pleasanton will have a special feature opening night as well as throughout the auction… make sure and tune in to see Pleasanton footage and to watch people bid on Pleasanton auction items. “This will be great fun for everyone to watch, bid and buy,” says Carr, “not to mention the excitement of live television!”
