The Pleasanton River Park has been serving the citizens of Pleasanton for 30 years, providing a place to fish, to exercise, to socialize, and to play sports. In years past, a Park and River Board had been in place to offer representation for the various groups that use the park. Pleasanton City Council has instated a new Park and River Board (P&R) and created an ad hoc committee at the November 6 and November 21 meetings. City Ordinance 30.05 creates and governs the Park and River Board.
Each city councilmember nominated a member of the P&R Board for their district at the November 6 meeting, as follows: Jimmy Magel (District 1) – Doug Best Abraham Saenz (District 2) Edna Garcia of the Pleasanton Youth Soccer League Kathy Coronado (District 3) – Bob Byrd of the Navigators J.R. Gallegos (District 4) – Leticia Gonzales of Pleasanton Little League Roger Garza (District 5) – Ann Salas of Art on Main Jeanne Israel (District 6) Mark Pavlovsky
The P&R board will manage contracts, create schedules and enforce regulations over the park’s facilities, which include the pavilions, baseball fields, and playgrounds.
At the November 21 meeting, city council members nominated members of an ad-hoc committee, containing representatives of some of the teams that use the park’s facilities.
Nominations for the ad hoc committee are Betty Guzman, Vice President of Brush Country Rattlers Football Fidel Villegas, Pleasanton Baseball Country Leticia Gonzales, Pleasanton Little League Christy Reed, Pleasanton Pop Warner Football Martha Brymer, Tri City Soccer Debra Ullman, Texas Phenoms Softball
Mayor Clint Powell has yet to choose a chairperson for the P&R board, and asked council for more time to make that choice.
