Christine Moczygemba


Christine Klawun Moczygemba of Pleasanton, went to be with her Heavenly father on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the age of 63.  She was born April 4, 1953 in Southport, Indiana to Richard and Genneil (O’Brien) Klawun. 

Christine graduated from Ball State University with her BA in Elementary Education and the University of Houston with a double Masters in Bilingual/Multicultural studies.  She taught in Donna ISD, Houston ISD, Clear Creek ISD, Karnes City ISD, Floresville ISD and retired from Natalia ISD after 40 years of teaching in December 2015.  She also taught at Palo Alto College.  She was a certified spiritual director and in the diaconate program with her husband in San Antonio.  Strong in her faith and wisdom, she touched the lives of many.

Christine is survived by her husband, Joey Moczygemba of Pleasanton, Texas; father-in-law, Gerald Marple of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Raymond Moczygemba of Christine, Texas and Curtis Moczygemba of League City, Texas; daughter, Emily Glover and husband Bryon of League City, Texas; brothers, Rick Klawun and wife Debbie of Nashville, Tennessee, Evan Klawun and wife Cherie of Indianapolis, Indiana and Brian Klawun and wife Cathy also of Indianapolis, Indiana and sisters-in-law, Lisa Moczygemba and Dee Duarte both of San Antonio, Texas.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Glover of Santa Fe, Texas, Taylor Trobaugh of League City, Texas, Taryn Glover of League City, Texas, Lucy Moczygemba of San Antonio, Texas, Alana Moczygemba of Christine, Texas, Aly Moczygemba of Christine, Texas and Alaza Moczygemba also of Christine, Texas and nieces and nephews, Jennifer Klawun of Nashville, Tennessee , Kayla Klawun also of Nashville, Tennessee, Stacie Jo Klawun of Ohio, Ryan Klawun of Nashville, Tennessee, Andrew Klawun of Indianapolis, Indiana, Aaron Klawun also of Indianapolis, Indiana and Desiree Moczygemba of San Antonio, Texas

Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Genneil Klawun; an infant baby brother and mother in law, Edna Rose Marple.

A visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by visitation at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pleasanton on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:00 am also at St. Andrew Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City.

Pallbearers (former students) for Christine’s service will be Gabriel Mejia, Diego Hernandez, Enrique Ramon, A.J. Hernandez, Zachary Brooks, Mark Balencia, Rey Garza and Matthew Contreras.  

Honorary pallbearers will be her grand-girls. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the St. Andrew Catholic Church Guadalupanas or the St. Andrew Catholic Church ACTS.
