The town of Charlotte found out some tragic news Tuesday morning.
Sarah Luna, 29, and Jeremy Ward, 34, were both killed in an accident about two miles north of Charlotte on Farm to Market Road 1333.
A trailer hauling a Bobcat came off the hitch of a pickup. It then traveled into the opposite lane striking the truck that Luna and Ward were in. The driver hauling the trailer was unharmed.
Robert Romo, Charlotte Fire Chief, spoke about his fellow fire fighter Jeremy, “He was always a happy go lucky guy willing to help out every chance he could. When he first came to volunteer everyone just revolved around him. He was such a great guy. If a fire broke out and he did not have a vehicle that night, we would see him running down the street to the fire station. You open your eyes one day to the next and you never know what might happen that day. It is a part of life. As the week goes on, we know all of this will sink in even more. We are just all feeling a little lost right now.” Romo said that while all the county fire fighters go by their town names that really they are all part of one big family, one community called the Atascosa Volunteer Fire Department.
Between them, they leave behind seven children, Samantha Jo Luna, Natalie Raelyn Ward, Jessica Rose Ward, Johnny Jimenez, III, Daniel Thomas Luna, Jr., Jeremy Ward, Jr. and Lyric Ward.
