Wow, it has been 13 years since the Charlotte High School Band was selected for Area Marching Competition. The last time the Charlotte High School band advanced was under the direction of Mr. Ralph Unger, the current Director of Bands at Pleasanton High School.

The Charlotte High School Band did excellent at the Region Contest in Hondo, on Saturday, Oct. 14. The band was selected to advance this year in conference 2A for Area marching band competition. This year’s show is entitled “American Celebrations” by Manny Maldonado. This show reflects and celebrates the historic values of The United States of America.

Drum major Annelise Gaitan reflects as the band was selected to advance to Area, “There was excitement throughout the whole band. All the seniors were in tears because this was their last shot at Area Contest. It goes to show that we may be a small band, but hard work from each individual paid off.”

Area marching contest will be held in Cuero, on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Charlotte High School Band is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Current Band Directors are Mr. Anthony L. Castillo and Mr. Manuel Romo.

We wish the Charlotte Trojan Band the best of luck as they represent UIL Region 11 Music and Atascosa County.
