CCSCT accepting car donations in support of veterans program

The Community Council of South Central Texas’ Veterans Program is requesting support from the community. As of today, CCSCT has assisted over 100 veteran families across 16 area counties. However, more can be done with the community’s’ participation.

The nonprofit group is now asking the community to make a difference in the lives of a veteran, by donating used vehicles through CCSCT’s freshly established CARS partnership.

CARS (Charitable Adult Rides and Services) is a nationally-recognized social enterprise nonprofit that helps thousands of nonprofits in the US and Canada increase their fundraising and acquire new contributors through turnkey vehicle donation programs. Since 2003, CARS has returned more than $300 million to partners.

CCSCT’s Veterans’ Financial Assistance Program helps eligible veterans, veteran dependents and surviving spouses. Through it, CCSCT assists beneficiaries with short-term and temporary financial emergency services, including rental assistance, mortgage assistance and more.

The VFAP serves the following 21 counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson and Zavala. This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information on the Texas Veterans Commission, visit www.TVC.Texas. gov.

Veterans Program Coordinator, Kenneth Loy, expresses the importance of the fundraising efforts, “… we are raising funds to prevent homelessness amongst vulnerable veterans. Your donation will be used to stabilize housing and ensure access to utilities and transportation by honorably discharged veterans.”

Donating is easy, the pick-up is free and your gift is tax-deductible. CARS considers all vehicles and accepts donations meeting the following basic requirements:

•Vehicle has a clear title. If you do not have the title, please call us anyway.

•Vehicle is in one piece and towable

•Vehicle is accessible for safe towing

•Vehicle does not need to be running

Call 1-855-500-7433 or donate online at https:// careasy.org/nonprofit/ community-council-ofsouth central-texas-inc. The Vehicle Donor Support Team is available seven days a week.
