Carolina Gonzales Campos, age 88, from Charlotte, was called home to her eternal rest by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was born on Monday, June 27, 1932, to Mateo and Josefa Garcia Gonzales in Banquete.

Carolina grew up helping her family and learning the necessary skills of a farmer’s life. These skills served her well in life as she was an accomplished cook, seamstress and quilter. She had a great knowledge of healing herbs and plants. Many Charlotte athletes sought her out for her massaging hands when they had sore muscles and minor injuries, and were given hot fresh homemade tortillas with butter as an additional boost. Carolina enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with her family watching college baseball and the Little League World Series, and especially looked forward to attending Bear’s Pachanga as she had done for the last 25 years.

Carolina is preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Josefa Gonzales; brothers, Ramon Gonzales, Fabian Gonzales and Jose Gonzales; her husband, Guadalupe S. Campos Sr.; and her son, Reyes G. Campos. Those that will carry on her legacy and cherished memories include siblings, Daniel Gonzales, Eulojo Gonzales, Maria Cabello, Idalia Vela; her children, Jose Luis Campos Sr., Ruben (Adelaida) Campos Sr., Guadalupe (Sylvia) Campos Jr., Yolanda (Wayne) McDowell and Glenda (Emilio) Barrera; grandchildren, Jose Luis (Sonia) Campos Jr., Gabriel (Cynthia) Campos, Yvonne (Rudy) Gonzales, Jessica Flores, Michael (Twila) Garza, Mario (Christina) Campos Sr. , Ruben (Kami) Campos Jr., Christina (Stephen) Martinez, Rev. Adam (Lyndi) McDowell, Andrea (Jordan) O’Leary, Falena (Adrian) De La Cruz, Matthew Alejandro Campos- Barrera, Tessa (Zach) Robinson, Lyssa Campos and Stefan Campos; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Pallbearers are Michael Garza, Joe Campos Jr., Gabriel Campos, Mario Campos Sr., Stefan Campos, Adrian De La Cruz, Emilio Barrera and Ruben Campos Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Barrera, Rev. Adam McDowell, Nathan Flores, Jared Flores and Ethan Flores,

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Road in Pleasanton, Friday, January 15, from 4 p.m. until the rosary at 7 p.m. Private interment services will be held at a later date.
