As a community service, the Brush Country Tea Party will host a non-partisan candidate forum at the American Legion Hall in Jourdanton on Feb. 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Due to the uncertainty of the filing deadlines and the primary voting dates this year, all candidates, whether officially filed or those intending to file, are invited to take advantage of this non-partisan public forum. Presently, the plan is that those who are invited to present themselves, their views, and their platform (their intentions as to how they will conduct business if voted into the position they seek), will each be allotted five minutes to address the audience, followed immediately by a five minute question/answer period.
Depending upon the number of candidates attending, this time frame may have to be altered slightly. Additionally, each candidate will have table space upon which to display their pertinent campaign materials.
The format of the “first-of-its-kind” event in Atascosa County will allow the citizens attending to compare and contrast competing candidates, as well as get to know those who are unopposed. After the presentations, the Brush Country Tea Party will provide refreshments. This time can be used for citizens to visit with the candidates, one on one.
This event is free to the candidates and the public alike. Everyone is encouraged to attend and take advantage of this informative opportunity. Mark your calendars and please come.
