Birgit Ingeborg Ratterree passed away in Tilden, Texas December 29, 2018 at the age of 49. She was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany on March 31, 1969 and was preceded in death by her parents Fritz and Elly Brunner. She is survived by her husband, Michael Ratterree; daughter, Elizabeth “Lisa” Duffy; sons, Michael Thomas Ratterree and Travis Kane Ratterree; and many other family and friends.
Birgit was a devoted and loving mother, wife, friend and caretaker. Working for many years as a veterinary technician, much of Birgit’s life was spent dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals which reflected her incredibly selfless heart. Those who were blessed with the gift of knowing Birgit would tell you how she always put the needs of others before her own and went above and beyond for those whom she loved. She is remembered for her beauty, warmth, strength of character and seemingly endless energy from dawn to dusk juggling the many chores and projects on the ranch she so dearly loved and enjoyed. She is deeply missed and those who have survived her are heartbroken and forever changed by the light she was.
Although she has left us too soon, her newly found and cherished faith in Jesus leaves confidence that she was welcomed into His everlasting arms and reunited with her sorely missed loved ones.
A memorial service in Birgit’s honor will be held at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, January 9 at 10 a.m.
Her memory is tenderly remembered and comforted by these words that she shared:
“Schnell muss alles Schöne schwinden
In des Lebens Blutezeit
Herrlicher werd Ihr es finden in dem Land Ewigkeit”
In the bloom of life, everything beautiful will wane.
Everlasting it will be in the land of Eternity.
