Beatrice Brown Martin, 83, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Poteet.
She was born in Rochelle, Texas to Drew Austin and Oma Mae (Coffelt) Brown. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Beatrice worked for Lacks for twenty years until she retired. She enjoyed collecting clocks and was a very active member of her church, she loved playing the piano and organ. She loved her cats and taking care of them but most of all she loved spending time with her family and watching them grow.
Beatrice is survived by her son Stanley C. Martin and wife Norine; daughters Dorothy Louise Digges and husband Bill, Kathy Ellen Hill and Laurie Ann Woody and husband Rick; brother Clifton Brown; 16 grandchildren, Stacey Copeland, Christi Parker, Wendy Mattingly, Carri Villarreal, Cyrus Martin, Dovie Gates, Stephanie Martin, Tammy Persinger, Angela Tovar, Jessica Warren, Bryan Hill, Mandy Digges, Drew Martin, Kristopher Morrow, Louise Williams and Samantha Morrow. She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband Howard R. Martin, sister Juanita Brown Lively and parents Drew Austin and Oma Mae Brown.
A visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the Somerset Baptist Church in Somerset on Friday January 13. Interment to follow at the Pleasanton City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kristopher Morrow, Rick Woody, David Brown, Bryce Henry, Sierra Cowan, Joseph Alexander, Kevin Buck and Steve Turpin.
