BBQ plates and fried pies

First off I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies and prayers to Noel, David and Katie Wilkerson and their families on the passing of their mother. I remember when they first moved to Pleasanton.

My mom, at one time, had an article in the Pleasanton Express. Little did I know that years later I would be ‘volunteered’ to write the Verdilizer. Maybe some of you are wishing I wouldn’t have been, but it is what it is. Shout out to at least one of my fans, maybe my only one. Hi, Emma Jasik.

Coming up this month at the Verdi Community Center, Charlie and Ermelinda will be back making BBQ and homemade fried pies. The plates come with brisket, chicken and/or sausage with pinto beans, potato salad and bread. You can purchase the brisket by the pound for $13. Fried pies are sold separately. They will start selling at 10:30 until sold out and they usually sell out quickly. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 18.

Bible study Tuesday nights at the Verdi Community Center from 7-8 p.m. This week’s lesson: The Holy Spirit.

Happy Mother’s Day! “Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.” – Robert Browning

Word for the week: “If they (your children) write their names in the dust on the furniture, don’t let them put the year.” – Phyllis

My time is up and I thank you for yours.

TTFN (ta ta for now),

Gina Huizar
