Aurora Alvarado of Poteet, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born in Poteet on May 5, 1928 to Guadalupe and Maria Angelita (Peña) Alcorta.
Aurora loved quilting and enjoyed making quilts for all her children. She also enjoyed cooking and making her special egg bread, which her children loved eating every morning for breakfast. Aurora also loved having gatherings at her home, and she never met a stranger. Her greatest love was for her family, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who was always involved with her children.
Aurora is survived by her son, Ben Alvarado; daughters, Evelyn Montalvo, Melva De La Rosa and Angie Vasquez and husband Daniel and sisters, Virginia Alvarado and Cristina Reyes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, April, Javier, Yvette, Luis Ray, Leticia and Cynthia and eight great-grandchildren.
Aurora is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jacinto Alvarado; parents, Guadalupe and Angelita Alcorta; brothers, Ramiro and Tiberio Alcorta and sisters, Lupita Diaz and Rita Estrada.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Wednesday, April 19 from 4 – 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral service led by Pastor Scotty Smith will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Thursday, April 20 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Alvarado Cemetery.
