Atascosa County receives $2,835.00 from EOG as seismic work payment

Present were all four commissioners, Lonnie Gillespie, (Precinct 1); William “Bill” Torans, (Precinct 2); Freddie Ogden, (Precinct 3) and Bill Carroll, (Precinct 4).

After call to order of the Special Meeting of the Commissioners’ Court, Judge Diana Bautista called on Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward who requested appropriate action concerning personnel. He requested the employment of Margarita Piñeda as a Corrections Officer with the pay rate of $2,756.00/monthly and uniform allowance of $120.00 monthly. Employment would begin on November 1, 2013. Request was granted.

Sheriff Soward then requested the employment of Arnold G. Mendez as a Deputy Sheriff with the pay rate of $3,112.00/monthly and uniform allowance of $120.00 monthly. Employment would begin on November 11, 2013. Request was approved.

Kyle Bradley, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, requested appropriate action concerning Rock Solid Internet annual fee be paid from the Justice Court Technology Fund in the amount of $653.78 Request was granted.

On the agenda next, Atascosa County Commissioner Lonnie Gillespie, Pct. 1, requested appropriate action concerning Order to Partially Abandon and Vacate County Roads, more specifically described as Ninth Street of Block 67 and Block 78, Leming, Texas and the Alley of Block 67 and the Alley of Block 78, Request was approved.

Next on the agenda, Judge Bautista requested appropriate action concerning the approval of Court Minutes from meetings in September. Request was granted.

Judge Bautista then requested appropriate action concerning contract between Atascosa County and Texas Indigent Defense Commission/ Texas Office of Court Administration. Requested was funds for Atascosa County Assistant Auditor Cyndee Galindo and Atascosa County Auditor Ray Samson to attend the meeting in Austin. Request was granted.

On the agenda next, Judge Bautista requested appropriate action concerning Seismic Mineral Permit Agreement between Atascosa County and Shaw Land Service, LLC/ EOG Resources, Inc. Requested was permission for EOG Resources, Inc. to be granted a permit to enter upon and conduct its proposed seismic operations upon the following described lands in Atascosa and/or McMullen Counties, Texas. This involved Tract ID: 1053 being 141.75 net acres more or less located in A-1004 C-1 SEC-8, ATASCOSA COUNTY SCHOOL LAND (141.75 ACS.) in Atascosa and/or McMullen Counties, Texas. Payment tendered was calculated as follows: Price per acre of $20.00 for a total amount of $2,835.00 to Atascosa County. Request was approved.

Next on the agenda, Judge Bautista requested appropriate action concerning Capital Outlay Expenditure Requests.

Atascosa County Auditor Ray Samson requested funding for additional security camera needs at the Atascosa County Courthouse in the amount of $15,695.00 to Guardian Security Solutions, LC. Request was granted.

The Commissioners’ Court then went into Executive Session.

Later, Commissioners’ Court began Open Session.

Judge Bautista then mentioned that the Commissioners’ Court had interviewed two applicants for the Emergency Management/Fire Marshal position. Commissioners decided to obtain more information before making a decision.

Next, Judge Bautista requested bills to be paid.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Hon. Judge Bautista, then mentioned that she along with an Atascosa County Commissioner would be meeting with the mayor of Von Ormy, Texas on Friday, November 1, 2013, at his request. This meeting involves SAWS (San Antonio Water System).

Judge Bautista mentioned to those in attendance about three upcoming meetings of the Commissioners’ Court. First meeting would be the Regular Meeting of the Commissioners; Court on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, since Monday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day.

The next meeting would be a Special Meeting on Monday, November 18, 2013 for the purpose of canvassing the election ballots.

Again, on Monday, November 25, 2013, the Commissioners’ Court would have its usual Special Meeting.
