Atascosa County Judge’s Report

I am excited to announce that we have been approved for our “test” election this fall to qualify for “County Wide Voting”. It has been a long and arduous path, but we got there. My sincere thanks go to the entire staff at the County Election Office for their time spent getting this done and assisting me. I thank Commissioner’s Court for their support and the hundreds of Atascosa Citizens that spoke, attended and wrote notes of support.

This means that you can not go to the wrong polling station ever again and you cannot accidentally vote at more than one polling station. You will be able to go to “any” polling station in Atascosa County and vote and your vote will be counted and your act of voting will be recorded at the Secretary of State’s Office in Austin. We will be putting full page ads in both Atascosa papers before early voting starts to help you know where you can go to vote.

Now, to go to this process, using our new voting machines, we must end the “old” manual paper ballot. If you have not used the new machines yet, once you do you will like it.

We also will be opening the third (3rd) early voting station at JP1 in Pleasanton. That is pleasing to me because early voting to me is where the ease of voting is. We will still have the early voting station in Jourdanton open as well as the location at JP2 near Lytle. Mail in ballots will not change.

We are dedicated to this proposition to make voting easier and more accessible.

Quote, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.” Thank you for listening. We want you to be proud of your county government.
