I am so proud of what we have done with the County Guardianship program. We have two court visitors, Mary Starrack and Rusty Prasifka who have worked to make our guardianship inventory current and well managed. The ward of a guardianship is very possibly one of the most vulnerable citizens in our county and is the County Judge’s responsibility.
If you know of a person who you think needs care, you can call Adult Protective Services hotline at 800-252-5400 and report a need. If you have questions, you can always call me.
David Prasifka, our Emergency Services Manager manages the I – Info program for our county. This program sends out notices to your cell phones, if you are signed up of potential bad weather. Also road closures, weather warnings … any kind of emergency notification you might need. To sign up, go to the internet and log into r.i-info.com/rc/arc. More Atascosa County Citizens on this network expands the information notification of emergency events in our county. It is worth signing up just to get the weather alerts. Please, if you are not signed up do so right away.
Judy Wilkerson passed away last week. She was a wonderful, smart, vivacious and caring person. She and Bill bought the Pleasanton Express and moved to Pleasanton and immediately became a beloved and integral unit of the community. They supported so many good works and projects it would be impossible to name them all here. They were great “Patrons” when some of us started ACT Community Theater. When I was Mayor of Pleasanton I was struggling to get a bond passed to build a community swimming pool. The Wilkerson family threw the full and free support of the Pleasanton Express to pass the bond issue to build the Pleasanton Swimming Pool. This part of the bond issue became the City Sports Complex. And there was more money included that helped later on to build the Pleasanton Civic Center. Their kindness, support and generosity can only be summed up in one word – magnanimous. So long Judy … tell “Wild” Bill we all said hello! We miss you both!

Thanks for listening.
We want you to be proud of your County Government.
