Atascosa County Judge’s Report

Did you receive a package or letter this week from UPS, FedEx, or USPS?  Did you know that they were able to find you by the efforts of the Atascosa 911 Office?

Linda Foster runs this office for the county and does an outstanding job.  Much of our funding for this work and the 911 Dispatch comes through grants from the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG).

The AACOG 911 office monitors all our addresses and this data goes to make that app. on your phone find your GPS coordinates.  AACOG gives us monthly discrepancy reports that we must reconcile.   They do a very good job.

The AACOG Area Judges Council receives monthly updates. If someone is trying to find your home or your business our 911 office is very important to you.  It is not a small thing at all that it is very important to you for police, sheriff, EMS or fire response.  Our local 911 dispatch does an excellent job but it would be for naught if the address was wrong.  In fact, it is very important in today’s high-tech world that your address be accurate.  Map or Google up your address sometime to see what you find.  There are hundreds of new addresses a year such as new subdivisions or simply a county house with acreage.  The EMS, law enforcement and fire departments and all 911 dispatches depend on accurate 911 addresses with every call.  Your life and safety could depend on accuracy for 911 in Atascosa County.  We take its administration very seriously.  911 administration is very important to you on many levels.

On another note, I am working to set up a meeting with TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) to discuss all pertinent issues concerning the prospective sand mine in northern Atascosa County.  We also need to discuss a private dam problem in northwestern Atascosa County.  I will keep you informed as we have more information.

 Thanks for listening.

We want you to be proud of your County Government.
