We are very close to wrapping the budget for 2019 and the tax rate. I am pleased to announce that we will be lowering your tax rate by 2 cents, from $61.99 to $59.99. I wish it was more of a reduction, but the good thing is that ALL bond rates and ALL monies for construction are included in this rate and there will be no more major projects added. All the money is in the bank and all projects are funded. I am hopeful that we can continue to reduce the tax rate again next year. This will not lower your next tax bill necessarily. You may have had your valuations increased which is something we are not involved in. If your valuation stayed the same, then your county taxes will go down slightly.
The jail expansion is running on track. We are working on the contract for starting JP3 and the weigh station. The Justice Center should be open for business and ready on January 2. I hope we will have the grand opening and tours in mid–December. The new county animal shelter will open very soon, with the grand opening and tours set for Friday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. We will have refreshments and tours. This is exciting, and you will be proud of what we are doing. Please be sure to come and see. We would love it if you do!
I hope to write next week about some changes for the better we are working on for the Juvenile Detention Center.
Thanks for listening.
We want you to be proud of your County Government.
