Atascosa County Judge’s Report

Atascosa County Judge Bob Hurley

I went to the worksite for the Animal Control today and walked the foundation.  It is really coming along.  They are erecting the iron trusses that will support the metal (modular) pieces that will make the exterior skin.  These modular pieces will have the insulation built onto them so when this goes up it will be rather quick. The modular pieces are supposed to be in on the 11th of November. The crown of the kennel building will have vents that open and close for ventilation.  There will be overhead doors on each side of the kennel building that will open for ventilation.

We are close to closing on the land for Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 building and we will basically use the plans from Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 that was finished about two and a half years ago. The jail expansion project is moving along and we should see serious movement on contracts soon.  The justice center also is moving along very well.  I think you will see the animal control facility finished after the first of the year.  The other projects will be done by the end of next year.  I have a hard time believing all we will have done in my first four years.  I will say, however, that I will be glad when all of the construction is over and I have quit spending so much money.  I know it is well-spent and needed.  But, I am by nature a frugal person, so spending less will sit well with me.  I assure you with all that is going on, every day I try to find some cost to reduce.

In closing, I have to say that we have lost so many good people to go to be with God recently. I know they are in a better place but we are all saddened.  I pray God will bless each of you in the loss of these friends and family.

Thanks for listening.

We want you to be proud of your County Government.
