I am making it official. We are closing the vaccination clinic at the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association (PSFA) grounds. We distributed 19 on Monday and 35 on Tuesday. So, Tuesday was our last day out there. We put this announcement on our emergency page on Monday. We started this past Monday with the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in hopes that is what many were waiting for. The week prior, we were giving Pfizer and were averaging 100 per day and that was a low figure. We had a previous day where we did nearly 1,000. Apparently, demand is substantially down.
My office and staff have worked hard to make this available for the county. Our citizens still have access at the local clinics (HE B, Walmart, Walgreens, Atascosa Health Center and McFarland Medical Clinic). Also, all of the Bexar County vaccination sites are available to us. There is a listing of them every day in the San Antonio Express News. Your life and health could depend on this.
Our COVID numbers continue to improve so it is my prayer that we have done enough in our county to see an end to this.
Please be sure to vote in the appropriate city and school board elections this Saturday. Voting is a privilege.
Thanks for listening. Let’s keep Atascosa County moving forward!
