We have one more SECOND shot vaccine event at the Strawberry Festival grounds on April 16. If you took your first Moderna shot there on March 19, you should go back at the same time of the date for your second. We will be planning another event there soon after and will let you know when. I am hopeful it will be a BIG announcement.
We have had over 5,000 people take the shot in Atascosa County and we have not had any incidents that I know of. When we have done another 20,000, we will see the numbers drop to the bottom of the chart, in my opinion. We have over 35,000 adults (18 and older) living in Atascosa County. I will keep pushing opportunities for our citizens to take the vaccine and will not stop until the demand is virtually gone.
We are going to have a public hearing on the “tire dumping” problem we have in this county on Monday, April 12 in Commissioner’s Court. I have the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) scheduled to attend by “Zoom” to answer questions and to give an update to our citizens on the efforts the county has made in the last year. It is a serious problem, and we have few tools in the legal statute quiver to target the violators with. But make no mistake. When we have the opportunity, we will prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
Be safe and hang on. Vaccination will set you “free.”
Thanks for listening.
