Atascosa County Judge’s Report

Constable Mares is sponsoring an “Active Shooter Training” On February 20, at St. Andrew Catholic Church Parish Hall. It will be from 6-8 p.m. It is free and is open to the public. Employers, government officials, all employees and individuals are invited. These tragedies can strike anywhere and the more informed we are the better. I very much appreciate St. Andrew Catholic Church who is always willing to support public events. They show a great heart for all whether members or not. I send my thanks to the members of St. Andrew’s. REMINDER: the date for the grand opening celebration of JP3 has been changed to February 14 at 11 a.m. Judge Carrasco and I have collaborated and that will work much better for his staff and give them a little more time to get settled. We will have finger foods and I believe Judge Carrasco is providing a cake. We will also do tours of the new Truck Weigh Station which should be complete by then.

First day of early voting – Tuesday, Feb. 18. Last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not mailed) – Friday, Feb. 21. Last day to vote early – Friday, Feb. 28. Last day to receive mail in ballot – March 3 (must be postmarked no later than March 4.)

REMEMBER – the county will have four (4) early voting stations open – Pleasanton (JP4); Jourdanton (elections office); Lytle area (JP2); Poteet (EMS Training Center). Don’t forget, if you are a registered voter in Atascosa County you can vote at any of the four (4) locations.

Quote: “The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” – Abraham Lincoln
