Sales tax figures for the first month of 2018 looked bright across Texas, with Atascosa County seeing a 100.81 percent increase over last year. Atascosa County saw a net payment this period of $583,891 compared to prior year’s check of $290,786. Atascosa County outpaced sister counties of Bee, Frio, Karnes and Medina who still saw increases with the exception of Frio who was down 15 percent.
The New Year rang in big gains for all Atascosa County cities as compared to the tax allocations of January 2017. Charlotte lead with the biggest percentage increase of 35.50. Pleasanton lead with the largest allocation check which increased by more than $100,000 from $325,439 to $438,710. Jourdanton had a 23.18 percent increase over last year’s check with a $79,727 allocation.
Across Texas, the monthly sales tax rebates this period were 9.5 percent more than in January last year, according to statistics released by Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s office. January payments are based on local sales made in November.
